On the importance of a good profile picture

Often, editors are looking for people to profile, not just another product to feature. It's important that you present an image on your About page that puts your best face forward. A good photograph suggests you are ready for press and let's an editor know, at a glance, if you fit their readership (we don't want to ask.) Minimal styling and a shot of color or pattern (against a well lit backdrop) looks great in print!
