Ask Amy: How long should I wait to follow up my pitch to a blogger?
Earlier this week I discussed followup on magazine submissions. Blogs are faster moving targets and the writers behind them know immediately if your product works or not. A pitch/idea may be posted 20 minutes after submission or four days later. Your job is to pay attention and read the blog. Assume it's not a good fit if they don't run it within a week. The only follow-up you want to make to a blogger is a "thank you" if they publish it.

I also think it's a good idea to post a brief "Thank You" in the comments section of a blog when it features your product. Just being there, and being nice, is an extra little view of you that can get people to click over to see the face behind the product, and what more you have to offer.
ReplyDeleteYES: say "thanks so much for liking my work" with sincere appreciation.
NO: Sneaking in more product mentions, additional links, or a paragraph on how this also comes in large and extra-large sizes.
